5 Books In Eve Rodsky’s TBR Pile

The author of our October ’19 book club pick shares five books by female authors that have inspired her in different ways. Story By: Eve Rodsky

From stories about breaking news to stories about breaking old patterns in your life, these books have inspired me in so many different ways. They cover everything from romance to the price of motherhood. Not only are these some of my favorite books, but they are also written by some of the most dynamic female authors out there. I hope you enjoy!

She Said by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey

This book moved me beyond words. “She Said” gives readers a behind-the-scenes look at the journalists who broke the news of Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual harassment and abuse that spanned decades. The stories about the women who came forward are both harrowing and gut-wrenching. I could not put this book down.

The Marriage Clock by Zara Raheem

Zara Raheem truly put a spin on the traditional rom-com story. “The Marriage Clock” focuses on Leila Abid, who comes from a traditional Indian family with traditional values about marriage. Leila must navigate both her parent’s wishes about who she marries and her own destiny. The ending in this book was truly perfect.

The Price of Motherhood by Ann Crittenden

Ann Crittenden’s groundbreaking book about why motherhood is still the least valued job, had such an impact on my research for “Fair Play.” Filled with anecdotes, statistics, and solutions, “The Price of Motherhood” is a must-read for anyone looking to understand the actual cost of being a mother in the 21st century

Becoming Super Woman by Nicole Lapin

Most women I know have experienced some form of burnout—and that’s where Nicole Lapin comes in. Her book “Becoming Super Woman” outlines a clear 12-step plan to help you alleviate some of that burnout and live a more balanced life. Yes, please!

Brave, Not Perfect by Reshma Saujani

Reshma Saujani’s words have had such an impact on me. In her book, “Brave, Not Perfect”, she explains how women should embrace imperfection and bravery. Before reading her book, you must listen to her viral TED talk that started it all.

Start reading Gone Before Goodbye at our link in bio.
In this episode of Bookmarked, Ruth Ware talks about the power of female friendships and why she never wants that idea to get twisted. While many of her thrillers explore “girls’ weekends gone wrong,” she shares how her own friendships are essential to her life and writing, a theme reflected in The Lying Game, a Reese’s Book Club 💛 pick. It’s a great reminder that even the darkest stories are often rooted in deep connection.
